How does LogisVert calculate the amount for a heat pump?

By the system’s heating capacity at −8 °C. Hydro-Québec pays $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C for an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump, or $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C if it is ENERGY STAR certified and a “cold climate” model. The rebate is set according to the heat pump’s installation date (Hydro-Québec, LogisVert; participation guide).

This site does not know your model: only Hydro-Québec’s tool gives the exact amount. The LogisVert portal also has a tool to calculate an estimated amount before you buy (Hydro-Québec).

How much for 12,000, 18,000, 24,000 or 36,000 BTU/h at −8 °C?

From $600 to $4,320 depending on capacity and type. The table applies Hydro-Québec’s rates to capacities at −8 °C chosen for the example; they are not real models.

Illustrative examples: LogisVert rebate by capacity at −8 °C (site calculation, Hydro-Québec rates)
Capacity at −8 °C (example)ENERGY STAR ($50)ENERGY STAR cold climate ($120)Difference
12,000 BTU/h$600$1,440$840
18,000 BTU/h$900$2,160$1,260
24,000 BTU/h$1,200$2,880$1,680
36,000 BTU/h$1,800$4,320$2,520

Example of the nominal-capacity trap (illustrative figures): the quote advertises a 24,000 BTU/h “cold climate” heat pump, but Hydro-Québec’s list shows 19,500 BTU/h at −8 °C for that system. The rebate is calculated on 19,500 BTU/h: 19,500 ÷ 1,000 × $120 = $2,340, not $2,880, which is $540 less than the calculation based on nominal capacity.

Calculation: capacity at −8 °C ÷ 1,000 × rate. Amounts before the 100%-of-pre-tax-cost limit and without bonuses. To estimate the capacity your home needs, use the quick estimate.

Where do I find my model’s capacity at −8 °C?

In Hydro-Québec’s list, using its eligible heat pump search tool. Enter the installation date (if the heat pump is not installed yet, today’s date), your situation, then the system’s AHRI number or unique ENERGY STAR model number. The list shows a “Capacity at -8 °C (BTU/h)” column and the rebate for each model (Hydro-Québec).

To read the other figures on a spec sheet (capacity at −15 °C, COP, NEEP and AHRI lists), see how to evaluate a heat pump.

What conditions must be met?

A new, ENERGY STAR certified system installed by a licensed company. Heat pumps installed on or after November 26, 2025 must be ENERGY STAR certified (Hydro-Québec).

The “very high efficiency heat pump” measure ($140 per 1,000 BTU/h at −8 °C) was withdrawn from the program on August 25, 2025 (Hydro-Québec): do not rely on an amount calculated with that rate.

What documents and what deadline for the application?

Nine months after installation, online only. The application must be submitted no later than nine months after the installation date; if you group several measures, the deadline runs from the first one. Applications sent by email or mail are not processed (participation guide).

  1. Proof of ownership: municipal tax bill or first page of the deed of sale (Hydro-Québec).
  2. Purchase and installation invoice: number and date, installation date, your name and the installation address, company name, GST and QST numbers, RBQ licence number, description of the product and work, AHRI or ENERGY STAR number, cost of the work (Hydro-Québec). The name and address must match those on the proof of ownership, and the invoice must be marked “Paid” (checklist).
  3. A clear photo of the outdoor unit’s nameplate, showing the model and serial numbers (Hydro-Québec).
  4. Your customer number and meter number, shown on your electricity bill (checklist).

An incomplete application is flagged within about 20 business days; processing takes 10 to 12 weeks after a complete application is received (participation guide).

How do I avoid LogisVert-related fraud?

Do not follow up on any unsolicited offer made “on behalf of Hydro-Québec”. Hydro-Québec does no phone or door-to-door solicitation, partners with no business other than its service provider (Groupe Marketing International), and says that an unrequested offer of a LogisVert-related service made in its name is probably fraud (Hydro-Québec). It does not partner with any business to sell heat pumps (Fraud prevention (French)).

LogisVert, Rénoclimat and the federal rebate: what can be combined?

LogisVert remains the program for the heat pump. Rénoclimat does not fund heat pump installation, but you can claim assistance from different programs for separate work, for example basement insulation through Rénoclimat and the heat pump through LogisVert (Québec.ca, Rénoclimat).

The federal rebate announced for 2027 is a separate program: Hydro-Québec says LogisVert remains in effect (Hydro-Québec), and Canada.ca will publish its criteria starting November 1, 2026 (Canada.ca). What we know about it: 2026–2027 rebates and, if you heat with oil, replacing an oil furnace.

Frequently asked questions

My heat pump is already installed: is it too late for LogisVert?

Not necessarily. The application must be submitted no later than nine months after the installation date, and a heat pump installed since November 26, 2025 must be ENERGY STAR certified. In Hydro-Québec’s search tool, enter the actual installation date: the list in effect on that day sets the amount.

Can I combine LogisVert and Rénoclimat?

Yes, for separate work. Rénoclimat does not fund heat pump installation; Québec.ca says you can, for example, insulate the basement through Rénoclimat and get the heat pump subsidized through LogisVert.

Can I stack LogisVert with the 2027 federal rebate?

It is not confirmed. The LogisVert participation guide states that by receiving the rebate, you agree not to submit another subsidy application to Hydro-Québec or to government bodies for the same equipment or work. The federal rules are due to be published starting November 1, 2026: read both before applying.
